Come Into the Ark
Blessing of the Animals

“Bring Your Pet to Church!  St. Paul’s holds an annual ‘Blessing of the Animals’ Sunday service during the month of October.  October is traditional for such special services as October 4th is the feast day for  St. Francis of Assisi who is  associated with patronage of animals and the environment. This unique church service features music, readings and prayers of blessing for the animals.

Pet photography  in 2022 was offered by John McCarthy of Longleash LLC. Pet Photography of Wilbraham after the church service

People from the public and church community are invited to bring their pet as they are, or in festive Halloween attire; perhaps even dressed for Christmas for a special Christmas card photo shoot!

If a pet is unable to attend, their photo can be brought instead to be blessed.

Reverend Sousa of St. Paul’s speaks of the importance of being a blessing to the animals in our lives  “They do not ask for much in life, and  just need a warm, safe and sheltered place to live, as well as adequate food, water and exercise. In return they will give you unconditional love, loyalty and companionship.  Having a furry friend means you will always have a little living being, waiting patiently for you at home and ready to welcome you with a wagging tail or a purr.”

Drink and refreshments are served, as well as treats for the animals in the reception after the church service..
